Japan MIC, JATE, PSE and VCCI
MIC introduction
MIC is the government agency that regulates radio frequency equipment in Japan, and the production, sale, and operation of wireless equipment in Japan must comply with technical regulations approved by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC).
Introduction to JATE
JATE (Japan Approvals Institute for Telecommunications Equipment) certification is a certification of compliance for telecommunications equipment. This certification is for communications equipment in Japan, in addition, all wireless products connected to public telephone or telecommunications networks must apply for JATE certification.
Introduction to PSE
According to Japan's Electrical Product Safety Act (DENAN), 457 products must pass PSE certification to enter the Japanese market. Among them, 116 class A products are specific electrical appliances and materials, which should be certified and affixed with PSE (diamond) logo, 341 Class B products are non-specific electrical appliances and materials, which must be self-declared or apply for third-party certification, marking PSE (circular) logo.
Introduction to VCCI
VCCI is a Japanese certification mark for electromagnetic compatibility and is administered by the Voluntary Control Council for Interference by Information Technology Equipment. Evaluate information technology products for VCCI compliance against VCCI V-3.
VCCI certification is optional, but information technology products sold in Japan are generally required to have VCCI certification. Manufacturers should first apply to become a member of the VCCI before they can use the VCCI logo. In order to be recognized by the VCCI, the EMI test report provided must be issued by a VCCI registered and recognized testing organization.
