EN IEC 62680
On December 7, 2022, the European Union issued a revised Directive (EU) 2022/2380 on wireless equipment to address a series of issues related to electronic device charging interfaces. This directive supplements the implementation measures for universal charging sockets in Directive 2014/53/EU 3.3 (a) of the RED Directive.
On May 7, 2024, the official bulletin C/2024/1997 Common Charger guidance document was released, which further refined the requirements of the RED Common Charger directive based on the revised Directive (EU) 2022/2380.
According to the revised Directive (EU) 2022/2380 of the European Union, starting from December 28, 2024, all designated electronic products sold in EU member states must be equipped with USB Type-C charging interfaces that comply with the EN IEC 62680-1-3 standard and support fast charging technology that complies with the EN IEC 62680-1-2 standard.
