From Thursday, February 1st, 2024 to Monday, February 5th (Eastern Time), Spectra servers will be unavailable for 5 days and Canadian certificates will not be issued during the shutdown period.
ISED provides the following Q&A to provide more clarification and assist the industry in taking appropriate measures, and to prepare adequately for Spectra's 5-day closure:
1.Can you access REL and other database functions (company search, laboratory search) during this period?
During the shutdown period, all database functions, including company search, REL (Device List for IC Forensics)&TAR search tools, will be unavailable. But it is still possible to search for recognized ISED certification bodies CB and laboratories, as this does not directly depend on Spectra's availability.
2. For applications submitted to Spectra Web, display as "approved" (i.e. completed ISED internal review) and have an extended REL list - will these devices be listed on the REL as expected?
1) For applications that have been approved and "granted" in Spectra before closure (without a preset postponed listing date), they will be listed on REL before closure, and the list will be available again after REL returns to online after the closure period ends.
2) For "approved" applications with delayed listing dates set during the closure period, the list will immediately appear on REL when Spectra goes back online. Due to the unavailability of REL during the shutdown period, the inventory will not be available on the expected date.
3) For "approved" projects with delayed launch dates set after the closure period, the device will appear on REL on the expected date.
3. For applications submitted to Spectra Web before closure, will they be reviewed during the closure period of Spectra Web if ISED internal review has not yet been assigned or is in progress?
1) This is Spectra completely closed. Spectra Web and ISED's internal interface for review and approval will not be available during the shutdown period.
2) If the application submitted to Spectra before closure cannot complete the ISED internal review before closure, it will be temporarily suspended during the closure period. Once Spectra is re launched, ISED's internal review will resume.
4. For applications submitted to Spectra Web before closure, if ISED's internal review has not been assigned or is currently in progress, will they be listed on REL if ISED completes the review when Spectra Web is closed, or will they not be listed until Spectra Web is restored?
1) Applications submitted to Spectra before closure, if the ISED internal review has been completed and the application meets the requirements, will be listed in REL before closure. However, as REL is not available during the shutdown period, the list will not be available during this period. After the closure period ends and REL goes back online, the list will be available again.
2) If the application submitted to Spectra before closure cannot complete the ISED internal review before closure, it will be temporarily suspended during the closure period. Once Spectra is re launched, ISED's internal review will resume, and the REL list will be conducted after ISED's review is completed.
