As a third-party testing laboratory accredited by the FCC in the United States, we are committed to providing high-quality testing and certification services. Today, we will introduce an important test - Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC).
Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) refers to the compatibility between a mobile phone and a hearing aid when used simultaneously. In order to reduce the electromagnetic interference of mobile phones on people wearing hearing aids, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has developed relevant testing standards and compliance requirements for HAC compatibility of hearing aids.
HAC testing for hearing aid compatibility typically includes RF Rating testing and T-Coil testing. These tests aim to evaluate the degree of interference of mobile phones on hearing aids to ensure that hearing aid users can obtain a clear and undisturbed auditory experience when answering calls or using other audio functions.
According to the latest requirements of ANSI C63.19-2019, requirements for Volume Control have been added. This means that manufacturers need to ensure that the phone provides appropriate volume control within the hearing range of hearing aid users to ensure they can hear clear call sounds.
More than 37.5 million people in the United States suffer from hearing impairment, especially about 25% of the population aged 65 to 74, and about 50% of elderly people aged 75 and above suffer from disabling hearing impairment. In order to ensure that all Americans, including those with hearing impairments, have equal access to communication services and that consumers with hearing impairments can use mobile phones on the market, the Federal Communications Commission of the United States released a draft for consultation on December 13, 2023, which aims to achieve 100% mobile phone support for hearing aid compatibility (HAC). In order to implement this 100% plan, the draft for soliciting opinions requires mobile phone manufacturers to have a transition period of 24 months and nationwide network operators to have a transition period of 30 months; Non national network operators have a transition period of 42 months.
As a third-party testing laboratory accredited by the FCC in the United States, we are committed to providing manufacturers and operators with high-quality HAC testing services for hearing aid compatibility. Our professional team has rich experience and advanced testing equipment, which can ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results. We always adhere to the principle of customer first, providing personalized solutions and professional technical support for customers.
In order to better serve mobile phone manufacturers and ensure the compatibility of mobile hearing aids with HAC performance, the BTF Testing Lab has the ability to test mobile hearing aid compatibility with HAC and has obtained recognition from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States. At the same time, we have completed the capacity building for Volume Control.
