This standard specifies the general requirements for lamps using electric light sources with a power supply voltage not exceeding 1000 V, covering requirements and related tests such as classification, labeling, mechanical structure, electrical structure, and photobiological safety.
Standard execution timeline:
On February 16, 2023, EN IEC 60598-1:2021/A11 :2021/A11:2022 was officially implemented;
On February 16, 2025, EN IEC 60598-1:2021/A11 :2021/A11:2022 will be enforced!
This means that all certificates using the old standards will expire on February 16, 2025. To ensure the validity of the certificates, manufacturers should apply for version updates before February 16, 2025.

The following content has been mainly added:
Revision 1
In section 3.2.12, note 4 “In some countries, lighting fixtures with power cords intended to be connected to a power source through a socket are not allowed without a plug
Revision 2
In section 4.11.6, the test voltage for the withstand voltage test is reduced to 1500V.
Revision 3
In the first paragraph of 5.2.2, replace “IEC 60227 (all parts) and IEC 60245 (all parts)” with “EN 50525 (all parts)” and delete the second paragraph “If the above conditions are met, materials other than polyvinyl chloride and rubber can also be used, but in this case, the special requirements of IEC 60227-2 and IEC 60245 mentioned above do not apply.” Use the following new table to represent 5.1.
Revision 4
Chapter 12 Durability Test and Thermal Test
In the second line of Article 12.4.2 c), add “(see footnote c in Table 12.2 regarding conduit free fixed wires)” after “90 °C.
Add the following content to footnote c of Table 12.2:
Add “(HD60364 (all parts) and HD 384 (all parts)” after “European Installation Standards”.
Add “(EN50525 (all parts)” after “European Cable Standard”.
Revision 5
Add Annex ZB “Special Country Conditions” and Annex ZC “A-deviations”.
