North American Mobile Power Standard ANSI/CAN/UL 2056:2025 Update Reminder

UL released the latest version of the 2056 standard for power banks on October 22, 2024, which has received dual accreditation from ANSI (American National Standards Institute) and SCC (Canadian National Standards Institute). The new standard is a national standard recognized by both the United States and Canada. This means that mobile power products sold to the United States and Canada can be tested using ANSI/CAN/UL 2056:2025.

Standard interpretation:
1.Scope of application
①Suitable for input and output not exceeding 60Vdc;
②Allow the use of direct insertion AC input structure;
③The energy of the internal battery pack shall not exceed 100Wh;
④Covering power banks that use photovoltaic panels as energy sources;
2.In terms of testing methods
①Electrical testing methods are more rigorous;
②The capacity verification test has returned to UL2056 issue 2 version, which is closer to the international performance standard (IEC61960);
③Added Steady Uniform Force Test, Flexing Force Test, and other tests specifically designed for the shell to comprehensively evaluate its mechanical reliability and safety.
④In terms of warning language, bilingual English and French are required;
④Added control over the voltage, current, and temperature of the battery cells during testing to ensure that they are not used beyond their designated range and reduce the risk of fire and explosion.
