REACH SVHC is about to add 6 official substances

On December 16, 2024, at the December meeting, the Committee of Member States (MSC) of the European Chemicals Agency agreed to designate six substances as substances of high concern (SVHC). Meanwhile, ECHA plans to add these six substances to the candidate list (i.e. the official substance list) in January 2025.

It is worth noting that the 6 newly added SVHC substances will be subject to public review from August 30, 2024 to October 14, 2024. In addition to the proposed addition of resorcinol, the other 6 substances have been confirmed to be added to the SVHC official list. Details of the 6 substances are as follows:

Octamethyltrisiloxane (EC 203-497-4, CAS 107-51-7)

O,O,O-triphenyl phosphorothioate (EC 209-909-9, CAS 597-82-0)

Reaction mass of: triphenylthiophosphate and tertiary butylated phenyl derivatives (EC 421-820-9, CAS 192268-65-8)

Perfluamine (EC 206-420-2, CAS 338-83-0)

Tris(4-nonylphenyl, branched and linear) phosphite

6-[(C10-C13)-alkyl-(branched, unsaturated)-2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl] hexanoic acid (EC 701-118-1, CAS 2156592-54-8)

As of now, there are 242 substances on the official list of SVHC. The 6 substances that have been identified and will soon be added to the official list are mentioned above, with 1 proposed new substance (resorcinol) and 7 intended substances, totaling 256 substances.
