UKCA stands for UK Conformity Assessment (UK Conformity Assessment). On 2 February 2019, the UK government published the UKCA logo scheme that would be adopted in the event of a no-deal Brexit. This means that after March 29, trade with the UK will be conducted under World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules. Eu laws and regulations will no longer apply in the UK. UKCA certification will replace the current CE certification implemented in the EU, and most products will be included in the scope of certification. On 31 January 2020, the UK/EU Withdrawal Agreement was ratified and officially entered into force. The UK has now entered a transition period for its withdrawal from the EU, during which it will consult with the European Commission. The transition period is scheduled to end on December 31, 2020. When the UK leaves the EU on 31 December 2020, the UKCA mark will become the new UK product mark.
2. Use of the UKCA logo:
(1) Most (but not all) products currently included in the CE mark will be included in the scope of the new UKCA mark;
2. The rules for the use of the new UKCA mark are consistent with those of the current CE mark;
3, if the UK leaves the EU without a deal, the UK government will notify a time-limited period. If the production and conformity assessment of the product has been completed by the end of 29 March 2019, the manufacturer can still use the CE marking to sell the product on the UK market until the end of the restriction period;
(4) If the manufacturer plans to conduct a third party conformity assessment by a UK conformity assessment body and does not transfer the data to an EU accredited body, after March 29, 2019, the product needs to apply for the UKCA mark to enter the UK market;
5, the UKCA mark will not be recognized in the EU market, and products currently requiring the CE mark will continue to require the CE mark for sale in the EU.
3. What are the specific requirements for UKCA certification marks?
The UKCA marker consists of the letter "UKCA" in the grid, with "UK" above the "CA". The UKCA symbol must be at least 5mm in height (unless other sizes are required in specific regulations) and cannot be deformed or used in different proportions.
UKCA label must be clearly visible, clear and. This affects the suitability of different label specifications and materials - for example, products that are exposed to high temperatures and require UKCA marking will need to have durable heat-resistant labels to ensure compliance with regulations.
4. When does UKCA certification come into effect?
If you have placed your goods on the UK market (or in an EU country) before 1 January 2021, there is no need to do anything.
Businesses are encouraged to prepare for the full implementation of the new UK regime as soon as possible after 1 January 2021. However, in order to give businesses time to adjust, EU-compliant goods with CE marking (goods that meet UK requirements) can continue to be placed on the GB market until 1 January 2022, with the EU and UK requirements remaining unchanged.
On August 1, 2023, the British government announced that it will indefinitely extend the time for enterprises to use the CE mark, and will also recognize the CE mark indefinitely, BTF Testing Lab interpreted this news as follows.
