What does CE RoHS mean?

1

CE-ROHS

On January 27, 2003, the European Parliament and Council passed Directive 2002/95/EC, also known as the RoHS Directive, which restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment.
After the release of the RoHS directive, it became an official law within the European Union on February 13, 2003; Before August 13, 2004, EU member states converted to their own laws/regulations; On February 13, 2005, the European Commission re examined the scope of the directive and, taking into account the development of new technologies, added items to the list of prohibited substances; After July 1, 2006, products with excessive levels of six substances will be officially banned from sale in the EU market.
Starting from July 1, 2006, the use of six harmful substances, including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), was restricted in newly launched electronic and electrical equipment products.

ROHS 2.0

1. RoHS 2.0 testing 2011/65/EU directive implemented from January 3, 2013
The substances detected in Directive 2011/65/EC are RoH, six lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs); Four priority evaluation substances are proposed to be added: di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), n-butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), (2-hexyl) hexyl phthalate (DEHP), and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD).
The new version of the EU RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU was released on July 1, 2011. At present, the original six items (lead Pb, cadmium Cd, mercury Hg, hexavalent chromium CrVI, polybrominated biphenyls PBB, polybrominated diphenyl ethers PBDE) are still maintained; There was no increase in the four items previously mentioned by the industry (HBCDD, DEHP, DBP, and BBP), only a priority evaluation.
The following are the upper limit concentrations for six hazardous substances specified in RoHS:
Cadmium: less than 100ppm
Lead: less than 1000ppm (less than 2500ppm in steel alloys, less than 4000ppm in aluminum alloys, and less than 40000ppm in copper alloys)
Mercury: less than 1000ppm
Hexavalent chromium: less than 1000ppm
Polybrominated biphenyl PBB: less than 1000ppm
Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE): less than 1000ppm

EU ROHS

2.Scope of CE-ROHS Directive
The RoHS directive covers electronic and electrical products listed in the catalog below AC1000V and DC1500V:
2.1 Large household appliances: refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, air conditioners, etc
2.2 Small household appliances: vacuum cleaners, irons, hair dryers, ovens, clocks, etc
2.3 IT and communication instruments: computers, fax machines, telephones, mobile phones, etc
2.4 Civilian devices: radios, televisions, video recorders, musical instruments, etc
2.5 Lighting fixtures: fluorescent lamps, lighting control devices, etc., except for household lighting
2.6 Toys/Entertainment, Sports Equipment
2.7 Rubber: Cr, Sb, Ba, As, Se, Al, Be, Co, Cu, Fe, Mg, Mo, Ni, K, Si, Ag, Na, SN US EPA 3050B: 1996 (pre-treatment method for lead testing in sludge, sediment, and soil - acid digestion method); US EPA3052:1996 (Microwave assisted acid digestion of silica and organic matter); US EPA 6010C:2000 (Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy)
2.8 Resin: Phthalates (15 types), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (16 types), polybrominated biphenyls, polychlorinated biphenyls, and polychlorinated naphthalenes
It not only includes complete machine products, but also the components, raw materials, and packaging used in the production of complete machines, which are related to the entire production chain.
3. Certification significance
Not obtaining RoHS certification for the product will cause incalculable damage to the manufacturer. At that time, the product will be ignored and the market will be lost. If the product is lucky enough to enter the other party's market, once discovered, it will face high fines or even criminal detention, which may lead to the closure of the entire enterprise.
